Many of Colorado’s most celebrated musicians will gather to perform and pay tribute to their friend, brother and bandmate David Dinsmore, who died on Feb. 10, 2024, at a benefit show at the Oriental Theater on Jan. 11, 2025.
David left an outsized hole in our collective hearts — far bigger than his 6’3” frame — as his commitment to the music scene was unmatched and exceeded only by the love of his family and fellow bandmates in the numerous groups he performed with.
“I'm reasonably sure no one in Denver saw more other Denver bands play than David,” said his fellow Tivoli Club Brass Band trombone mate David Flomberg in his Facebook tribute upon Dinsmore’s passing. “And when the pie is so small here and everyone's hustling to get people to show up to a gig, that means a lot to folks...He lived the life and walked the walk for us all. He set the example of what it is to support local music...I'm going to miss him. My dearest trombrother.”
The show will feature some of David’s most beloved bands, including performances by his longtime ska band Judge Roughneck, Tivoli Club Brass Band, and his Tom Waits tribute band, Lost Dog Ensemble. This evening will also feature Lost Dog’s Vinyl Release Party, David’s final recording project. Numerous special guests and local music luminaries will be on hand as well, including Elisabeth Rose, Jimmy Nasi, Halden Wofford, Andy Monley, Toddy Ivy, Damon Smith and Jessica Chernila, who will perform with Judge Roughneck and Lost Dog; and FaceMan, The Littles, and David’s youngest Jordan will be performing with Tivoli Club Brass Band.
