About the Venue

The Oriental Theater serves as an anchor of the bustling Tennyson Art and Business District and serves the broad interests of Denver’s burgeoning cultural scene.

In addition to a full offering of music, comedy, film and other live performances, the theater is available for private parties, lectures, corporate meetings, non-profit fundraisers, and other special events.

Enjoy events, shows, and performances: by local- to internationally recognized artists, any night, all year; produced by the Oriental, by local, regional and national promotional teams, and by friends like you.

Experience the show from the multi-leveled chair and table seating, the giant dance floor, or up in our 100+ seating balcony. Notice the subtle nuances in sound quality, reflecting the Theater’s birth in a time before mechanical sound amplification. The view from anywhere in the house is never obstructed!

Watch shows on the big screen – the giant 30′ × 20′ (that’s 600 square feet!) projection screen can play any Blueray or DVD— screen your film project on the big screen!!!

Please join us at the Oriental Theater, at 44th and Tennyson in Denver. Bring your friends and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions:

When is your box office open?

The Box office is now open from 12PM to 6PM every Tuesday - Sunday, and until 9pm any evening there is a show. Our box office is now located right next next door to the theater in the Berkeley Bodega. In addition to these hours the box office is also always open during events.

Where do I park?

The Oriental Theater does not have a designated parking lot. However, there is plenty of on-street parking available -especially on the North and South side of 44th Avenue (to the of East of Stuart Street). The parking is much more accessible than any other music venue in the Denver metro area. PLEASE DO NOT PARK BEHIND THE THEATER IN THE PRIVATE LOT OR IN THE GRATEFUL GNOME PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET. PLEASE RESPECT OUR NEIGHBORS!

Is there a dress code?

Never (unless it's a private event).

Is there Public Transportation available?

RTD 44 stops right in front of the theater CLICK HERE for the schedule.

Do you have an ATM?

We sure do!

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, but if you are purchasing tickets at the box office or at the door, there is a $2 per ticket fee.

Do you have a full bar?

Yes! -We have a decent selection of all liquors and beers- but don't expect a wide selection of high-end single malt scotches...

Are you hiring?

We don't hire too often, but please feel free to send your resume to info@theorientaltheater.com

Do you accept submissions from bands to play at the Oriental Theater?

We do. However, this is a 700 person capacity venue; if your band can only draw 25 people -this is not the place for you to perform. If you are a touring band and you do not have a Denver fan base, we are not the place for you. We are a destination venue- we are not a bar that people just "hang out" at because we book great music (though we do try to consistently book high quality entertainment).

Why is your name "Oriental Theater"?

First of all, we didn't name the Theater- it was named and built in 1927. To actually change the name of the Theater would be cost prohibitive (hundreds of thousands of dollars) and since we are on the National Historic Registry it would be a bureaucratic nightmare. As for the negative racial connotation of the word; we like to refer people to this Op-Ed piece published in the LA Times in 2016. It was written by Jayne TsuchIyama: http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-tsuchiyama-oriental-insult-20160601-snap-story.html
